RURAL ASSISTANCE AUTHORITY
The NSW Rural Assistance Authority (RAA) administers a wide range of assistance measures to the Rural Sector. These assistance measures are both Commonwealth and State funded. Whilst the Rural Sector is its core client, the Authority is also responsible for small businesses that have suffered loss or damage due to natural disaster.
The NSW Rural Assistance Authority provides assistance to rural producers and small business in regional NSW through programs that encourage self-reliance and adaptation to change.
- Exceptional Circumstances assistance (Interest Rate Subsidy)
Financial assistance to eligible producers and small business in declared Exceptional Circumstances areas. - Special Conservation Scheme
An incentive-based initiative aimed at promoting improved land management practices within NSW. - Natural Disaster Relief Scheme
Assistance for primary producers and small businesses affected by flood/fire/hail or other declared natural disaster. - AgStart
The initial funding of $3 million for the AgStart Scheme has been fully committed to successful applicants over four highly competitive rounds. - Drought assistance
Measures to assist producers and small businesses affected by drought, consideration for deferral of payments, and contact details for drought support workers. - Appeal review process
An independent appeal process for applicants who have had an application for assistance refused. - Farm debt mediation
Mediation under the Farm Debt Mediation Act provides for the efficient and equitable resolution of farm debt disputes.
