WA Drought Pilot
The Australian Government, in partnership with the Western Australian Government, is conducting a pilot of drought reform measures in part of Western Australia.
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, the Hon. Joe Ludwig appointed an independent panel in February 2011 to assess the efficiency, effectiveness, appropriateness and preliminary outcomes of the pilot measures. The panel, chaired by Mr Mick Keogh, completed its assessment in August 2011.
The panel's findings build on the 2008-2009 review of national drought policy and will inform further consideration of national drought policy reform.
On 2 September 2011, the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, the Hon. Joe Ludwig released the panel's report on the review of the drought pilot (see attached media release).
